Mike Padgett Highway: Who is Mike Padgett?

Michael J. "Mike" Padgett Sr. was a political leader in Richmond County and in the Georgia Legislature. He served in the Georgia House of Representatives, Georgia Senate, and Richmond County Commissioners. He is especially known for bringing economic development to southern Richmond County, such as his role in bringing the International Paper Plant. Its fitting that a road named for him runs in front of this plant.
He died in 2000.

Augusta Canal Southern Lock and Dam

After Phinizy Swamp, I drove down Lock and Dam Road to the park with the lock and dam at the southern end of the Augusta Canal.

Phinizy Swamp

These silos are right next to the parking lot when you first come into Phinizy Swamp. There are a lot of silos in this area that have been taken over by the local plant life.

I tried to zoom in to take this picture of the heron, but it made it look more like an impressionist painting

I thought it was funny to see a cell tower in the middle of the swamp.

So I got this email today...

I got an email today from Google telling me they were about to delete my blog if I didn't switch it over from Blogspot legacy to a Google account. After a half hour of scratching my heading (because I've been logging into Blogspot for years with my Google account), clicking around in frustration, logging in, logging out, and just generally chasing my tail, I discovered that I apparently created this blog 8 years ago under some random username and forgot it. I finally figured out the username and merged this blog with my Google account. I'm not sure what I am going to do with this since I already have a blog, but I am tired of realizing how many things I have started and forgot about/quit. So, I am going to resume this blog after an 8 year hiatus and by golly I am going to use it.
